Prayer Request

Where are You, God?
JM
Aug 29 2008

Brothers and sisters in Christ,
I am so frustrated right now, I ask for your prayers.
Last night my husband went to run an errand...and when he came back out his truck wouldn't start. A mechanic at a gas station said he thinks it may be the starter...but he doesn't know for sure.
We already live paycheck to paycheck, with barely a cent left over after all the bills have been paid. IF all the bills are able to get paid, that is. We are behind on bills right now because 2 weeks ago we had a large expense to take care of with my car...so we have nothing in reserves to cover fixing his truck.
It seems like not a single month goes by without some sort of very large expense that we have to take care of. I have a feeling there is something God is trying to teach us through all of this...but I don't understand what it is.

God's Delayed Explanations
Michael.

A disciple of Jesus Christ must learn to understand God's silences. One of the features of the book of Job was God's silences silence toward him, though He was not silent to satan, and though Job's friends were not silent to him. (and we haven't been silent to you!) With all that speech making, God did not enter into dialogue with Job until the end of the book (chap. 38), and even then He did not explain why He led him through the valley of humiliation.
In Job's case, his knowledge of God's will was delayed and indirect. That is the way God usually deals with us. Even Jesus was not given full and perfect knowledge of the father's plans (Matthew 24:36). God's usual method of pedagogy is to let circumstances tell the tale. That is why Job had no conception of God's plan until he looked back on his path, very much as Bunyan's Pilgrim, who saw every reason for his zigzag route afterward. Jesus said to His, "What I am doing you do not now understand, but you shall understand afterward" (John 13:7, author's trans.).
When God is silent toward me, it means I am walking in ignorance. That means I must trust Him implicitly, otherwise I will lose my way. The life of faith would end completely if God explained His every move to us. The natural man lives by reason, so he demands an explanation for everything. But the spiritual man lives by faith and he reserves God's right to be silent, because he has implicit faith in God's honesty and integrity.
"Someday we'll understand" goes the hymn, and it is true. But the someday need not be in heaven. "Afterward" for the disciples was Pentecost. "Afterward" for you and me may be tomorrow, or the next startling event in our lives. "But He knows the way I take; when He has tried me [through dark, unseeing paths], I shall come forth as gold" (Job 23:10). *AMEN*

"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12) *AMEN*

Rest assured friend, God is there and he is there for you. Keep praying for all the pure and good things in your life. Take time to give Him thamks and praise for the day. i too have been in your boat, and this for you will pass, like things always do. Never lose faith though, even when the seas are rough and you feel like giving up. Your prayers will be answered and the end result is always what is the best thing for your spirit.

I pray that God may somehow send a blessing to you that finanial worries may come to a halt and that burden being lifted will help restore peace and happiness in your life. Amen

BOY, JM, I CAN RELATE. I DON'T KNOW HOW MATURE YOU ARE AS A CHRISTIAN, BUT I HAVE HAD SERIOUS MONEY PROBLEMS FOR YEARS [AS A RESULT OF THE DEBT I RAN UP BEFORE I BECAME A CHRISTIAN], AND GOD HAS SEEN ME THROUGH EVERYDAY. IT HAS STRENGTHENED ME AND INCREASED MY FAITH MIGHTILY. I DON'T PANICK ANYMORE AND SOME OF MY DEBT HAS TURNED LEGAL. JUST KNOW THAT HE DOES INDEED HAVE A GOOD PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE. BREATHE EASY. IF GOD IS FOR YOU, WHO CAN BE AGAINST YOU? MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND PROSPER YOU.

JM - bless your heart you sound like millions of others who have your same problem. Nothing left in he wallet for emergencies. Don't blame God, he's not using this to teach you anything, it's just life. It's life for so very many people. Almost everyone is living from paycheck to paycheck, and when those unexpected things happen it brings about such anxiety and frustration.
We have been married for a long long time, but believe me, it was the same with us years ago. Seems like it's only after the children grow up, and you have maintained the same employment for years that you can finally start to get ahead and be able to put some aside for such emergencies.
Father God, I pray for JM and the stress that has been placed on her life with the breaking down of another vehicle. Lord it's so expensive to maintain the vehicles I pray that somehow the funding would be available (perhaps though a loan from family), that can help. I pray that even through this JM knows that you care for her so very much. Father God, I pray that she will begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. Encourage her in the faith I pray in Jesus name .. amen
