Psalm 23:1 New International Version (NIV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

The Lord is my Shepherd - You could simplify what a shepherd does down to three primary things - Tend, Feed, and Guard.

When a Shepherd tends to sheep, he takes care of them. The Shepherd will take care of the sheep droppings. He will groom the sheep. He will doctor the sheep. He will feed the sheep. The Shepherd attends to the needs of the Sheep.

God will do the same thing with us. When we sin (sheep droppings) God has given us a way to take care of it - repentance. God will help us to improve or grow (grooming). When we are sick God will heal us by faith, plus God has raised up Doctors and medicine that can help to heal us in the natural. God has even provided the plants, minerals, and knowledge that drugs are made from. God has provided everything we need to get healed.

God not only tends us but God feeds us.

Jeremiah 3:15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
15 And I will give you [spiritual] shepherds after My own heart [in the final time], who will feed you with knowledge and understanding and judgment.

God has provided us with Pastors and teachers that feed us with knowledge and understanding. God wants us to grow up spiritually so that we can teach and lead others to God.

God will Guard us. Last week we took a look at Psalm 91. Psalm 91 is one of many places in the Bible, which talks about divine protection. Divine protection is for those that have a covenant relationship with God. Christians have a blood bought covenant relationship with God that was sealed with the Holy Spirit. So be bold and walk in the promises of your covenant with God.

Speak the Word: Father, you are my Shepherd. You have attended, groomed, and protected me. I love you and I thank you for all of the wonderful things you have done for me.
