Malachi 3:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
When God opens the floodgates of heaven what will pour out? The love of God. God will pour out a blessing on you, because He loves you. When your children are sick, you take them to a doctor because you love them. When you are sick God is willing to heal you, because God loves you. You will help your kids go to college because you love them and you want them to prosper. Well God wants you to prosper and will help you just like any good parent would do with their own children.
When you give 10% of your income to the work of God, expect God to help in every area you need help in. God will help you, because, like a good parent, God wants you to prosper in every area of your life. God wants to see you joyful and blessed. When you get up in the morning, thank God for opening the love gates of heaven and pouring out blessings that you do not have enough room for.
