John 15:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.

To bear fruit you must abide in Jesus. When Jesus said this he was speaking to farmers. For a farmer, success was having a lot of fruit. A poor farmer does not have much fruit. A rich farmer has abundant fruit. Think of it in terms of your life. A business person might say "If I abide in Jesus I will have an abundance of money." A student might say "if I abide in Jesus I will get good grades". A stay at home mom might say "if I abide in Jesus I will have a happy home". Here let me show you. Let's take a look at the next 3 verses.

John 15:5-7 New International Version (NIV)
5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

Did you see what Jesus said, "apart from me you can do nothing" and "ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you". With Jesus you can do anything. With Jesus anything is possible. Just stay vitally and intimately connected to Jesus. Follow Jesus wherever He leads you.

Speak the Word: Father, I abide in you. I spend time in the word and in prayer. I am doing everything you have asked me to do. I am living a life of victory.
