Matthew 10:19-20 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 20 "For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. Have you ever put your foot in your mouth? I sure have. I have said some very stupid things in my life. Your mouth can get you into trouble so fast. Would you like to get control over your mouth? We are going to tap into the supernatural power of God to gain control over our mouths. Notice that Jesus said in this verse "Father who speaks in you". You will find those words inside of you. They will not come from your neighbor, lawyer, parent, or friend. The words will be on the inside of you. Listen for that still small voice, it may be an impression rather than specific words.
Proverbs 20:27 King James Version (KJV) The Holy Spirit is inside of you. You will have to look inside in order to sense what God is telling you. Not a head sense but a knowing in your inner man.
Romans 8:14,16 Amplified Bible (AMP) 16 The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God. This is developed through prayer. You must spend time in prayer in order to learn how to be sensitive to the Spirit of God. Now I am not talking about "I have been praying for a week and I don't notice anything yet". No, no no, don't give up after a week or two. Prayer must become a lifestyle. You need to develop a style of living where you are always communicating with God (praying all the time). Start with the smallest of decisions. Lord should I wear the white or the blue shirt? It is through learning how to follow God in the small things that you will learn to hear from God concerning the big things. You also need time when it is just you and God and nobody else. Find a time where you can be alone with God every day. Work on spending at least an hour a day with God. Now, if you have to work up to an hour then do it. If you have to start with 10 minutes a day and work your way up to an hour. The most important thing is that you get started, not how much time you spend with God. By being led by the Holy Spirit and you will find that you are not putting your foot in your mouth as often as you used to. Speak the Word: Father, I am lead by your Spirit. I say what you ask me to say. You are glorified by what comes out of my mouth. Copyright © 2008 Free Bible Email Bible Version Copyrights are available at our web site: |
