Deuteronomy 30:19-20 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

19 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,

20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

In love, there is freedom! God loves you so much that He has given you the freedom to choose. You can choose life or you can choose to die. God loves you enough to give you the power and the right to choose. Hey, we have all made bad choices in our lives, but make sure you make the most important choice of all. Choose Jesus! Make Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life.

Now it sounds silly "Choose life or death". Why would anybody choose death? Nobody in their right mind would choose death. The problem here is called "deception". Here let me explain. According to this verse choosing life is loving God, obeying God's voice, and cleaving to God (or holding fast to God). Do you know someone that does not love God, disobeys God, or does not cleave to God? They have chosen death. Now, they do not want death, but they have chosen death. To choose life you have to "love God", "obey God", and "cleave to God". So let's ask the all important question. Does that describe you? I can think of areas in my life where I fall short. Don't fall into condemnation over this question, this is an opportunity to grow not to tear you down. Take a moment to honestly ask your self - How can I love God more? How can I obey God more? How can I cleave to God more? Pursue God and you will have chosen life.

Speak the Word: Father, I am pursuing you with all of my heart, mind, and strength. I have chosen life and not death.
