Zechariah 4:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

God was asking Zerubbabel to do an impossible task. God asked him to rebuild the temple of God. The nations around them did not want the temple rebuilt. The nation of Israel was not interested in rebuilding the temple. This was too big of a job for Zerubbabel to do all by himself. In addition, construction back then was not like it is today. God was asking Zerubbabel to complete this during his lifetime. You have to understand that often a structure the size of the temple could take several hundred years. That is not something that can always be done in a single lifetime. God had asked him to do the impossible, but God had given him a way to do the impossible. To do it by the Holy Spirit.

Are you faced with the impossible in your life? Has God given you an assignment that is so big that you can not possibly do it your self? Then keep it mind that it is "not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit" says the Lord. Look, God has asked you to do something. God would never do that without giving you the tools to work it out. God did not ask you to build a temple and then hand you a shovel and pick axe. No, God has given you everything you need to accomplish everything He has asked you to do.

Keep your focus on the right things. It will not get done because of your might or your power. It is a job for the Spirit of God. Faster than a speeding prayer. Able to leap mountains in a single confession. It is the Holy Spirit to the rescue. Do not be slow about it. Quick, get in prayer and give your impossible task to the one who can accomplish more than you could ask or think. Give your task to the Holy Spirit to work on.

Speak the Word: Father, it is not by my might or by my power. It is by the Holy Spirit. I will accomplish everything you have asked me to do.
