Romans 8:26-28 New International Version (NIV)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This verse is the key to effective prayer. Everybody can learn something from this verse because none of us are as effective as Jesus was. In verse 26 a weakness is any area in life that has not been perfected. The Holy Spirit will help you in any area that you need to grow in. The Holy Spirit is the presence and the power of God himself inside of you. God is helping you with your weaknesses.

Now the Spirit of God knows exactly how to pray for every situation. Nothing takes the Holy Spirit by surprise and nothing is beyond His ability to deal with. In a tight spot we may not have the words or the knowledge to deal with things but the Holy Spirit does. The Holy Spirit has the answer and will intercede for you.

They Holy Spirit is searching your heart and even knows those things you do not know how to express. The Holy Spirit also knows the mind and the will of God. When the Holy Spirit intercedes for you, He does so according to Gods will for what you are praying about. It is as if God himself was doing the praying. You can not get any more effective than that.

Notice the word "and" at the beginning of verse 28. All things work out for the good when you have the Holy Spirit praying for you. When you pray in the Spirit your prayer is exactly what God himself would have prayed for you and the result is that everything will work out for your good. Do not miss anything God has planned for you. Spend time daily praying in the Spirit.

Speak the Word: Father I am not going to miss anything you have planned for me. I spend time daily praying in the Spirit.
