John 14:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit. Do have some friends that are not believers? Keep in mind that they do not have the Holy Spirit in them. You can't expect them to act or think or believe like you do because they do not have the Holy Spirit in them. Jesus is the light of the World (John 8:12). If you don't have Jesus you don't have light. That is why the World is getting darker and darker.
When you became a believer, you separated your self from the World. You received the Spirit of Truth inside of you and God is compelling you to live a life of love.
1 John 4:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
When you received the Holy Spirit inside of you, you received the Spirit of Love inside of you. God is compelling you through the Holy Spirit to live a life of love. Now, this is important, do not treat this lightly. Do not say to yourself "Yea, Yea, I know all about that love stuff". Do you keep all of the commandments? Are you without sin? You see the commandments of God teach you how to walk in love. If you keep, the commandment to love, you will have kept all of the commandments. Jesus said that Love is the greatest commandment and that all other commandments depend or rely on love.
Keep your eye focused on love and watch as God moves powerfully in your life.
Speak the Word:Father, I have the Spirit of Love in me. I have the love of God shed abroad in my heart through the Holy Spirit.
