1 John 4:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 ...God is love...

Every time you see the Word "God" you could translate it to "love" and every time you see "love" you could translate it to "God". God is love. Love is not something God does. Love is not a quality or attribute that God has. Love is something that God "is". Love flows through every aspect of God. Love permeates every part and every area of God. God never hated anybody. God is love.

Now, if you try to hurt my wife or somebody that I love I will stop you. I will not hate you, but I will stop you. God is the same way. God protects those He has a covenant with. When you became a Christian, you entered a covenant with God. You became a part of God and God became a part of you.

Mark 12:30-31 Amplified Bible (AMP)
30 And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment.

31 The second is like it and is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

Jesus gave us this commandment because the most important thing we can do is become like God. The most important thing you will do in life is become like love. When you are in heaven the only thing that will be important about your life is the love you expressed. In heaven you won't be remembered for your stylish clothes, or your cool car, or enormous house. The only thing that will count is the love you expressed during and through your life.

What did you do that shows you love God? What did you do to show you love the Body of Christ? What did you do to express the love God shed in your heart?

Speak the Word: Father, I love you with my whole heart, all of my mind, all of my strength. I love you with all of my life.
