Deuteronomy 6:4-5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!

5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

I used to think that Jesus was the first one to say "Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, and strength". Deuteronomy was written two thousand years before Jesus was born. "Love the Lord your God" was not a new idea. It had been there all along.

I want you to know that if you devote everything you have to keeping these two commandments then everything else in your life will work out beyond your greatest dreams.

Mark 12:29-31 New International Version (NIV)
29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. 'There is no commandment greater than these."

The most important thing you will ever do is "Love God" and "Love your neighbor". This is not the great suggestion. These are not Jesus best recommendation. No, Jesus said Love is a commandment. God will never command you to do something that you can not do. Once you have received Jesus into your heart, you have everything you need to keep the commandments of love.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Make it your ultimate purpose in life to "Love God" and to "Love your neighbor". Nothing is more important then love.

Speak the Word:Father, I love you with all of my heart, mind, and strength and I love my neighbor as myself.
