Romans 7:15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [which my moral instinct condemns].

Do you ever feel that way? Do you ever feel like you can not help yourself, or you can not stop yourself? Don't worry we all do from time to time. God gave us a way out. God has given us a way to overcome even this kind of situation. God loves and wants you to succeed at everything you set out to do.

Romans 12:1-3 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1 I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

The key to gaining control over your life, so that you do those things you know you should do, is in these verses. The first step is to offer your life, your body, as a living sacrifice to God. Make a quality decision to do what God wants you to do in every situation. Take the time to ask God what He would like to you to do even with the small things. I strive to find out what God wants me to do, even in what I wear. Take the time to make sure that every decision you make is the one God wanted you to make.

The next thing is, do not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Take time daily to learn more about God. Gain a deeper understanding about the Word of God. Get into the Word of God through reading the Bible, listening to teaching tapes, reading Christian books, or emails like this one. You transform your mind by learning more about God. You transform your mind through revelation knowledge.

Now, as you strive to 1) do what God wants you to do, and 2) learn more about God, you will find that you have more and more control over your body and your life. Those things that you just couldn't say "NO" to just won't effect you any more. You will find that you simply grow out of them.

Do not quit. Regardless how long it takes. Regardless of how many times you have to go to God and ask for forgiveness, do not quit. Say with it. Be consistent. Before you know it, you will find that you have been set free. You will have the victory! You will be a vessel of honor!

Speak the Word: Father I strive to make every decision according to your will and not mine. I spend time in the Word of God every day. I am becoming a vessel of honor.
