1 Corinthians 13:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

You know it takes faith in God to live like this. Being patient and kind is not how the world does things. Does James Bond seem like the patient type to you? Not really. But God wants you to be known for your patience. In fact patience is a fruit of the spirit. Patience is something that will develop in you as you surrender yourself to God's will. When you stop doing it your way and start doing it love's way you will find that patience grows.

Patience is the result of spending time with God. Relinquishing your will to do God's will. At one time in my life that sounded like a terrible thing to do. Doing God's will sounded like something terribly restrictive and boring. I thought I would have to give up everything I love and just live a miserable life. That is the farthest thing from the truth.

When I lived my life, doing it my way, nothing ever seemed to work out for me. My life was never satisfying and most of the time, I was nursing some degree of being miserable.

That all changed when I stopped trying to do my thing and gave myself wholeheartedly to God. When I stopped trying to run my life and I let God run it for me. When I made a firm commitment to serve God with all of my heart, mind, and strength.

I am not perfect at it yet, but I love my life. I do not have this lingering sense that something is wrong. I have no fear. In fact I am very relaxed and easy going about my life. When you give in to God, you find that you will be fully satisfied in life. You will look back and say "Yes, that was good!"

Speak the Word:Father, I commit myself to love. I commit myself to love you with all of my heart, mind, and strength and to love my neighbor.
