1 Peter 4:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1 SO, SINCE Christ suffered in the flesh for us, for you, arm yourselves with the same thought and purpose [patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God]. For whoever has suffered in the flesh [having the mind of Christ] is done with [intentional] sin [has stopped pleasing himself and the world, and pleases God],

Are you going to be tortured or put to death because you are a Christian? Some of the subscribers to Free Bible Email live in countries were it is illegal to be a Christian. They could be put to death. Most of our subscribers live in the United States. For most of us suffering in the flesh has to do with ceasing from sin.

Most sin has to do with selfishness. "I want to!" What makes it hard is that "want to" part of it. Instead of doing what "I want to!" I do what would please God. This is a matter of your love muscle.

Matthew 22:37-40 Amplified Bible (AMP)
37 And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).

38 This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.

39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.

40 These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the Prophets.

Jesus said that "all" the law and the prophets summed up by or depend on the law of love. In other words all sin is an unloving, selfish act against God or against other people. Love on the other hand is not a feeling but how you act. Love will put the needs of other people ahead of your own. The stronger your love muscle the more you will have ceased from sin. The stronger your love muscle the more you will be filled with love, joy, peace, self control, and more. You will enjoy an abundant life.

Speak the Word: Father I choose to put aside what I want. Instead I walk in love with you and those around me. I am filled with love, joy, peace, self control and I have an abundant life.
