John 14:15 Amplified Bible (AMP) 15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.
It is a simple verse but it packs a lot of meaning. Do we love Jesus enough to keep His commandments? Jesus gave us the commandments of love. Now Jesus did not say this because He is trying to stop our fun. Jesus said this because He loves us and wants us to have an abundant life. During His last hours Jesus was addressing the most important issues for believers.
Look around you. Look at the people who choose not to keep His commandments. Do they have life and have it abundantly? Most of them are miserable. They work hard at having fun because "fun" is a diversion from how they truly feel. They are trying to escape life because they don't like their life. Now most of them wont tell you up front, but deep down inside they are unhappy. The people that I know that truly love life are the ones that serve God with all of their heart, mind, and strength. Don't hold back. Don't shrink from God. Don't hide. Chase after God with all of your heart, mind, and strength. You will gain your life when you lose it in God. You will be living a life that you love. You will have heaven on earth.
Matthew 11:29-30 Amplified Bible (AMP) 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.
30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good--not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.
Speak the Word: Father, I love you and I keep your commandments. Your yoke is comfortable and your burden is light. I serve you with everything I have.
