28 They replied, "What does God want us to do?"

29 Jesus told them, "This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent."

What does God want you to do? Should you become a missionary and go to China? Should you dedicate your life to making millions so that you can finance the Gospel and send it around the world? Should you...? What "work" should you do?

Notice what Jesus said "This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent." God expects you to believe Jesus. It sounds really simple. When you think about it, that is the root of the Christian life. Everything comes from simple belief in Jesus. How you act, what you will do, your morals, ethics, are all affected by believing.
