Acts 4:29-31 New International Version (NIV)
29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus."

31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Imagine that, you are praying and the building you are in begins to shake. At first you might think it was an earthquake. You might wonder if the building was going to collapse and fall in. You might be wondering what is going to happen to you. You know this really is marvelous what God did in this story.

Peter and John where on their way to the Temple to pray. They saw a man who was crippled and had been begging for money daily at the Temple gate. This man asked Peter and John for money and Peter replied "Silver and Gold I have none but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus walk." Peter reached out helped him up and instantly the man was healed (Acts 3).

In Acts 4 Peter and John are taken before the Sanhedrin. The High Priest and others examined them. Today that would be like appearing before the Supreme Court. Peter filled with the Holy Spirit made a very bold defense explaining that Jesus was raised from the dead and that salvation is found in no one else. There is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

The Sanhedrin commanded them not to speak of Jesus and Peter boldly declares that they must do what is right in the sight of God. It was not long afterwards that the Sanhedrin released them. They went and prayed and the building they were in began to shake.

Follow Peter and John's example and be bold for God. Be willing to stand up for what is right in the face of the public and the government. Get in prayer and be filled with the Holy Spirit. God will fill you with the boldness you need to shake the world around you for the glory of God.

Speak the Word: Father, I am seeking you. I am being filled with the Holy Spirit and I will be bold and proclaim the Word of God.
