Hebrews 8:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.

We are going to look at three areas that your covenant with God covers - health, wealth, and wisdom. Today we are going to focus on wisdom.

1 Corinthians 2:16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
16 For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

When you entered covenant with God, you were given the "mind of Christ". Now this may seem like a strange thing to say. You may be thinking, "If I have the mind of Christ, then how come I didn't know?"

Romans 8:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

God's spirit speaks to your spirit. This is not through your thoughts or your mind but through your spirit.

Proverbs 20:27 King James Version (KJV)
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Instead of "belly", some translations use "heart", "inmost being" or "innermost parts of his being". To hear God from your spirit takes practice. It is not automatic it is on purpose. God will speak to you at different times, but you have to deliberately seek God. It takes time in prayer and in the Word of God. You have to be silent. Just stop and listen. Relax your thoughts. Don't be so busy. Stop talking to God about all things going on in your life. Just listen to God.

Now we can answer the question I asked a moment ago "If I have the mind of Christ, then how come I didn't know?" Most of the time it was because we were not listening. God will tell us the things we need to know. Have you ever stopped and said, "I knew I shouldn't have done that!" That was the voice of God speaking to your spirit. That "Knowing" came from God. This is something that takes time to develop. As you grow in it you will enter a very special intimate relationship with God.

Another thing that is critical to hearing the voice of God is that you have to obey. If you decide to not do what God has told you to do, eventually God will just stop talking to you. It's not that God does not love you, It is because He expects you to obey Him.

Speak the Word: Father, your word says my sheep hear my voice. I hear your voice and I obey your leading and guiding.
