Mark 12:29-30 New Living Translation (NLT)
29 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'

Most Christians think of Murder, Adultery, or Drug Abuse as the worst sins someone could commit. But is that what Jesus thought? Jesus did not say that the greatest commandment is "thou shall not kill", or "thou shall not lust after your neighbors wife", or some other commandment. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, and strength. Think about that for a minute. It is more important to love God than not commit murder.

If you love God, of course you will not commit murder, but do you notice how our priorities are different than God's priorities? Do we live like the most important thing we will ever do is to love God?

When you love somebody you will do things for them that you would never do otherwise. Before I got married I would not go to romantic movie. I saw more romantic movies in my first year of marriage than I had seen during the rest of my lie. I watched them because I love my wife and she likes romantic movies.

It is the same way with God. When you love God with all of your heart, mind, and strength you will do things you would never do otherwise. You will keep God's commandments. Even if the commandment does not make sense to you. So work on your love for God and you will find it easy to keep all of His commandments, even if you do have to see a romantic movie or two.

Speak the Word:Father I love you with all of my heart, mind, and strength. I keep your commandments because I love you.
