1 John 2:4-5 New International Version (NIV) 4 The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:
Love will compel you to do things you would never do otherwise. Take a look at parents with babies. Those people would never make those silly noises, except for their baby. Love compels them to make silly sounds that they will never make again. The will change dirty diapers, something nobody wants to do.
When you love God with all of your heart, mind, and strength you will do things you would never do. Now let me step back for a minute. Did you know that it is a commandment, not an option, to love God with all of your heart, mind, and strength? It is not a good suggestion, it is the greatest of all commandments? Yes, even greater than thou shall not kill!
Matthew 22:37-38 New International Version (NIV) 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
Love will make it easy for you to keep God's commands. The greater your passion for God, the easier it will be to stop doing it your way and to start doing it God's way. Increase your love for God and you will find that pleasing God will become natural to you.
Speak the Word:Father I am perfecting my love by keeping your commandments and perfect love casts out fear.
