Deuteronomy 30:9-10 New International Version (NIV) 9 Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers, 10 if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Imagine if everything you ever did worked out. You applied to your dream school and you got accepted. You applied for your dream job and you got it. You asked your dream girl to marry you and she said yes. You got the dream house, the dream car, and the dream children. It sounds kinda like a dream. But it does not have to be "just a dream".
This verse is saying that God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands. School, job, spouse, house, car, and children are all works of your hands. God says that you will succeed at every one of them. Does "every" leave anything out? Are you sure? "Every" includes the school, job, spouse, house, car, and children?
Do you have a part to play in this? Yes, the "works" of your hands implies that you will have to work. This verse also talks about how you have to obey the commandments of God and that you will have to turn towards God with all of your heart (emotions) and soul (thoughts or mind).
This reminds me of what a Pastor I know says "You have to pray like it is 100% up to God and work like it is 100% up to you". That is so true. You will need to do the praying and do the working but in the end God will do the blessing.
Speak the Word:Father you make the works of my hands succeed. I am doing the praying and the working. Thank you for blessing me.
