Hebrews 4:12 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The word of God will divide the soul from the spirit. Man is a three part being - spirit, soul, and body. The Word of God will bring balance into your life. Have you noticed that sometimes there is a war going on within you? Part of you wants to do it's own thing and part of wants to do what is right. Let me show you how Paul described it.
Romans 7:15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [which my moral instinct condemns].
When you divide the soul (your mind, will, and emotions) from your recreated spirit (the real you, your heart) you will begin to see why you have this war inside of you. To win the war you have to train your mind, will, and emotions to submit to the Word of God.
Romans 12:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Renew your mind with the Word of God and you will have the power to live the Word of God. You will be victorious in every area of your life. You will prosper spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Speak the Word: Father, I am renewing my mind with the Word of God. I am increasing in the power to "do" the Word of God instead of the desires of my flesh.
